Andy and Jo Berry, our Children and Families Leaders, warmly
welcome your child/children to St. Mary's Children's Church:
What is St. Mary’s Children’s Church?
In the simplest terms, Children’s Church does what is says on the tin:
It will be Church, for Children, at St. Mary’s.
We’ll be mostly covering the same scriptures and topics being
studied in St. Mary’s Church. We’ll simply be making them most
accessible to younger people. We’ll sing together, study the
Bible together, pray together and seek to get to know God
better, all in contemporary and relevant ways for children aged
3 to 13 plus.
We meet in St. Mary’s Church Centre and Chapel.
When does St. Mary’s Children's Church meet?
On the first Sunday
of every month children and their families are encouraged to
All Age Service
which is simply a church service suitable
for all people from 0 to 80 and above, whatever your knowledge
of God or wherever your relationship with Jesus Christ is.
On the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays we meet for
St. Mary’s Children’s Church, with registration from 10.20am, in
St. Mary’s Church Centre. This means you’ll have plenty of time
ahead of the 10.30am church service in St. Mary’s.
On the 5th Sunday St.
Mary’s Church holds a
United Parish Communion Service where the congregations from both our
9am and 10.30am services worship together. This service starts
at 10am, so registration for St. Mary’s Children’s Church will
be from 9.50am.
The Spring Term 2018 commences
on Sunday 14th January, with
registration in the Church Centre, from 10.20am for a 10.30am
Children will be brought back to parents
each week in time for Blessing/Holy Communion at St. Mary’s
and Our Vision
Start children off on the way they should go, & even when they
are old they will not turn from it.
Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)
Our heart is to create an environment of mutual learning where
the Holy Spirit is given opportunity to
speak and work in the lives of children and adults alike. We can
learn much from the children, as Jesus regularly made a point to
He called a little child to him, and placed the child among
them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and
become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of
heaven." Matthew 18:2-3 (NIV)
We have a tremendous privilege when we spend time with the
children. We can teach them how to
mature in their faith; to disciple them. We can also learn from
them what faith needs to look like, no
matter how old we are.
Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place
his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not
hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as
these.” Matthew 19:13-14 (NIV)
We’ll have a dedicated time and space for children
We’ll have worship & prayer
We’ll listen to the Holy Spirit
We’ll open and study God’s word together
We’ll grow together and have fellowship together
We’ll study the same scripture as the adults do [as
We’ll learn to be more like Jesus together
We’ll learn how to show Jesus to everybody we meet
We’ll create a safe place for us all to explore the gifts of
the Holy Spirit
…all in ways that are most suitable
to the discipleship of these precious
Psalm 8:2 (NIV)
Through the praise of children and infants you have
established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the
foe and the avenger.
When you leave your children with us for the first time, we know
it can be a little daunting for you both.
if you wish to come and see what we do, along with your child,
you are more than welcome to accompany your child so they can
settle as speedily as practicable.
We’ll ask you to fill out a simple registration form on your
first visit, and once per year - which we’ll happily help you
fill out. This ensures we have all the important information
about your child with us in
St. Mary’s Children’s Church.
If you’re not sure where to bring your child, simply come to St.
Mary’s Church and one of our lovely Welcome Team will show you
where Children’s Church happens each week.
We believe that keeping to the ‘best-practice-guidelines’ is a
great starting point to ensuring children can worship God in a
safe and secure environment.
If you wish to see our Child Protection Policy, please speak to
any of the St. Mary’s Children’s Church Team Members or St.
Mary’s Church leaders and we’ll be happy to arrange for you to
see a copy.
All staff are DBS (The Disclosure and Barring Service) checked
and we regularly receive training on Safeguarding matters.
with additional needs:
If you have a child with additional needs please speak to us so
we can help your child feel settled and comfortable in St.
Mary’s Children’s Church.
We wish to make all children feel welcome as they learn to
explore their own relationship with Jesus Christ.
We are very
much looking forward to meeting you!
